General information
Car hire
In the airport there are many international car rental companies. It is also possible to hire locally. These companies are much cheaper (sometimes more than 50%) than the international car rental companies at the airport. For example, a few years old Mazda 323, is available from Naf 45,00 (€ 20,00). If you are interested in hiring from a local company we can make contact on your behalf.
Supermarket
There is a small supermarket and bakery about 3 km from our house. Here you should be able to purchase everyday essentials. There are also many large supermarkets i.e. Albert Heijn located on the island.
Diving
Curacao is a diving paradise. In general, you can dive from the beaches and you don't have to depend on diving boats or schools. This gives the non-divers the opportunity to stay on the beach either sun bathing or snorkeling. Our home is situated on the perfect side of the island for diving. There are about 20 diving sites situated within a half hour drive. Three diving schools are situated within 5 minutes driving distance from the house. And there are approximately another 15 situated further away.
Beaches
Just a short distance away from the house - you will find the most beautiful beaches in Curacao i.e. Cas Abou, Porto Marie. On these beaches there are diving schools, a restaurant and parasols available to rent. Located further away there are many more beaches including Lagun, Knip and Kalki (these last 3 beaches are within 20 min. drive by car).
Restaurants
The island has many restaurants. Landhouse Daniel where they serve a lovely breakfast, lunch and diner is within walking distance from the house. We would also recommend 'Martha Koosje' (a few minutes drive). Their menu contains many international dishes and grill specialties for a reasonable price. A Chinese takeaway is also located nearby.
Launderette
A launderette is located 1 km from the house which you can use for your clothes and beach towels.
The city (Willemstad)
The city is a 20 min. drive away.
In 'Punda' there are many small shop and restaurants including the famous 'pontjesbrug' and 'Fort Amsterdam'.
Airport
The airport is a 15 min. drive away. Despite the proximity, there is no noise disturbance.
Public Transport
We strongly advise hiring a car in Curacao, however the house is reachable by public transport. There is a bus-stop within a 5 min. walk. The main and smaller bus companies all go in the direction of the city and direction 'Westpoint'. We cannot vouch for the reliability of the bus timetable.
